Every Thursday, I am reminded of how blessed I am. I have the day off from my ✝️job. I start my day by waking up my ✝️family.  We wake up the house with ✝️sunlight and ✝️music. We have the option to ✝️eat ✝️breakfast. We always have ✝️coffee and time for ✝️prayer. All that happens before 7:00 AM!

I follow the kids in my ✝️car to ✝️school and begin my day. Every Thursday I volunteer at the GHS Wildcat Pantry. By 7:30 I am met by other volunteers and staff that I now call ✝️friends.   We have the ✝️opportunity to minister to the children with ✝️food, ✝️school supplies, ✝️clothing, ✝️a listening ear, ✝️hugs, and ✝️toiletries. We usually see about 30-35 high school students a week.

During the school year, we also have the ✝️opportunity to minister to 400 Guntersville City School students through a program called Blessings in a Backpack. With the help of our ✝️community, we send ✝️food home over the weekend to sustain the ✝️children in a ✝️home, ✝️car, ✝️camper, ✝️hotel or ✝️shelter that may not include food until they get back to school on Monday.

At an event this weekend, I saw a sign for sale.  It reminded me, “happiness is wanting what we already have”. Every word marked with a cross in this blog represents things often taken for granted.

The sign weighed heavy on my heart all weekend. Some things you can’t dismiss; join me in gratitude for the things/blessings we enjoy.  I encourage you to recognize your blessings. Follow the example of our Savior, bless others!

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
