Our world is in trouble today. As we look around, we see people that are angry, depressed, hurting, and lost. The news is about war, mass shootings, riots, coronavirus, and so much more sadness. My question to all of us is:

“What can we do?”

We can and must work during this harvest time. In the KJV, Luke 10:2 reads,

“Therefore said He unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few, pray ye therefore the Lord of the Harvest, that He would send forth laborers into His harvest.”

The same scripture in the Living Bible states,

“…plead with the Lord of the Harvest to send out more laborers to help you, for the harvest is so plentiful and the workers are so few.”

Our hearts should be broken for the lost, the discouraged, the depressed, the confused, the hurt, and the disappointed. It is time that we decide that we are going to do all we can to reach the harvest for Jesus Christ. We must ask God to break our hearts for what breaks His. We need to pray until God gives us a burden for all the lost people we see daily, whether in our family, on our job, or a stranger at the grocery store. People need someone to show them, love. Someone who will help them to learn about the love of God. Someone who will not judge them but have compassion for them.

Recently I have been asking myself, “Do I truly love all people? Do I really care about my community? Am I willing to sacrifice my time for others? Can I start looking for the best in people?”

Jesus told us in John 13:14,

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (KJV)

Can we do this? Yes, as long as we abide in Christ, His love will be in us.

“Jesus said ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.”  Acts 1:8

What are you doing in “your Jerusalem?” This is how we do something to help in the world that we live in—one at a time, showing love and compassion. Many people need someone to believe in them. Someone that will take the time to listen to them. Someone that will tell them about Jesus, how much He loves them and how He gave His life on the cross for them.

A spiritual harvest has great spiritual significance. It is the result of God’s work in the heart of men. We are God’s hands and feet. Together we can change this world one person at a time. We are the key to change in this world.
