“Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

As I looked around the women at the table, I was overwhelmed with appreciation for these beautiful souls. All at various times in life, ages, married, single, and widowed. Varied hobbies and interests; some were working, retired, or were a stay-at-home mom. Extroverts and Introverts alike. It’s funny how we introverts get comfortable and become extroverts with just the right people. We could not be more different if we tried. They are so vastly different. Coming to Christ in various stages in life. Our common bond, Sisters in Christ. Our most important bond.

We came together to share stories of forgiveness, and as I listened, I noticed each one discussing past trauma. Most were able to share how they were able to forgive their trespassers or, in some cases, trespassers. Speaking with careful wisdom that they had gained from the experience, listening to the pain in their voices, and then smiling with the realization of how far we all had come is truly a gift from Jesus.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:2-3

Now, I am not wrapping it up in a pretty bow. Some are still processing. We are encouraging them and will pray as they walk this path to forgiveness.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact, you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

As for me, every day, I again must choose to forgive. My flesh does not want to let it go, but my heart tells me Christ has forgiven me, and who am I to withhold forgiveness? I was truly not worthy of his sacrifice.

The bond we created at that table, knowing the stories would not be shared beyond this space, was intimate and extremely personal. I was truly blessed to be in this room with these ladies at this time.

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10

As I was driving home that night, I immediately felt humbled by the fact that you never know what someone has waked through —and believe me, some have walked through fire.

These beautiful ladies are truly my sisters. Each one is appreciated more than I can express, and there is always room for more at the table.

Pull up a chair, sister; I saved you a seat.

My prayer for you:

“Heavenly Father, first and foremost, I thank you and praise you. I come to you in earnest, praying You remind us of Your love for us and remind us to love others as You love.

Remind us of the grace and mercy You bestow on us so that we may also grant this to others.

Help us remember that we are here to serve others, and when we do this, we are really serving You.

Please remind us of our words and works and they are pleasing to You.

I pray each person always feels invited and that they are always welcome at Your table.

You know our hearts and our sins and still want us. You want us for us.

I personally thank each person who is taking the time to read this. You know their needs. We all are fighting a battle of some sort; I pray you protect them.

I ask all this in Jesus’ name. Amen”
