A woman had been hemorrhaging for twelve years. She had gone to many doctors and spent everything she had, but she was still sick. Due to Jewish law, she was considered unclean and was not to touch anyone. If she did, they had to wash their clothes and bathe; still, they were considered unclean until evening.
Can you imagine being sick, weak, frail, and not allowed to be around anyone? I am sure she was very discouraged. She heard about Jesus and how He was healing the sick. She lived about thirty miles from where He was. She decided if she could get to Jesus, she would be healed; she would make the journey, and nothing would stop her.
When she got to where He was, people were everywhere. She had to push her way through the crowd to get to Him. She had to be more determined than ever. She did not feel that He had to acknowledge her, but she had to acknowledge Him.
When she touched Him, immediately, she was made whole. He felt power leave His body the moment she touched him. He turned and said to the disciples, “Who touched me?”
I am sure she was scared to tell Him it was her because she was not supposed to touch anyone. But she reached deep into her soul, bowed before him, and said, “I did.” She told him her story of how sick she had been. He told her to go, “your faith has made you whole.”
(Matthew 9: 20-22, Mark 5: 25-34, and Luke 8: 43-48)
I can relate to this story because of a long-term illness in my family. I can only imagine how she felt when Jesus’ power touched her, and she knew she was well. If we can touch Him, all things are possible.
We can change our lives if we are determined to touch Jesus -willing to allow Him to be the Lord of all in our lives. Allowing the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love is so important in our faith walk. When you know His love, you can believe for anything.
Do you have a need today that seems hopeless? Are you weak from the battle? Arise up and touch the hem of His garment. Pray, read the bible, meditate on His Word, confess the Word, worship Him, have quiet times with Him, go to church, and get involved in Bible study. He is here standing with arms wide open to embrace each of us. He is here to love you and assure you everything is going to be all right.
Find out what belongs to you in Christ: your rights and privileges in Christ. Believe and confess what God’s Word says about you; nothing will be impossible.
