I felt tears fill my eyes as I shook my head in disbelief.
“How could anyone do such a thing? Evil; pure evil!” I thought.
That week, the news was filled with horrific acts of violence, rape, and murder. The victims’ ages spanned a broad spectrum, from little girls to older women. These reports seem to be on a ‘repeat’ cycle, with new stories of similar atrocities each day.
As I quietly prayed for the victim’s families and loved ones, I felt a sense of hope and connection. Is there anything we can do to save other families from this terrible grief? Yes, there is.
Protecting everyone is beyond our reach. But while we often feel powerless, there is usually something we can do if we are willing to act.
Lean into Jesus Ministries will host a free two-hour safety seminar for girls, teens, and women on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at LifePoint Church (700 Motley Street, Albertville, Alabama).
This seminar is not just about safety; it’s about empowerment. It equips attendees with the knowledge to confidently take control of their personal defense, regardless of age or ability. It will help participants gain the insights needed to make informed decisions and proactively safeguard themselves.
Our speaker, Chance King, is a former Army officer with combat experience in Iraq. Passionate about empowering individuals to take charge of their personal defense, Chance is also a devoted family man and follower of Christ. Married to his college sweetheart for over 17 years, they raise four children on their small farm in Hazel Green, AL. Chance enjoys strength training, conditioning, and ice hockey in his spare time.
We pray that God will use this training to empower women to recognize and avoid dangerous situations. When avoidance is impossible, the self-defense techniques taught could be the difference between life and death.

Proverbs Chapter 3, verses 1-22, discusses the many benefits of wisdom. The following verses (23-26) explain that peace from fear and safety from danger are some of these benefits.
Then you will walk on your way securely, and your foot will not stumble.If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
Gaining knowledge and wisely applying it is a good use of the minds God gave us. As we seek to make intelligent decisions regarding safety, we pray for God to help us use the knowledge we acquire when faced with dangerous situations. Women of any age or physical ability will benefit from this seminar. I really encourage you to join us.
