Sometimes, decisions are so hard to make, especially when we do not know the future. Recently I have been in the valley of decision. One minute I know what I need to do, and the next minute, I am so confused. When the confusion arrives, I want to run away from it. Have you ever felt this way? Running and hiding are always an escape from problems, or at least that is what we think. In my heart, I know that I need to run to Jesus. He is the one that brings me peace in the midst of all storms.
“May the Lord give strength to his people. May the Lord bless his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11 ESV
One lesson I learned many years ago is to trust the Lord to guide and direct me. My husband was in the hospital for the second time in one month. We had been there for a full week, and a week later, we were back in the hospital. The doctors could not find out why he was in so much pain. He was very sick, and I could not help him.
I remember walking the halls repeating Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV:
“Trust in the Lord with all you heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”
Sometimes, I think the reason we were in the hospital during this time was to teach me that I could not depend on the doctors, my husband, or even myself. This scripture tells us that we are to trust God with all our hearts and not depend on what we think we know. We must include him in all we do and let God keep us on the right road. We did not get a definite diagnosis from the doctor during my husband’s time in the hospital, but he did recover and was much better for many years.
I have never forgotten this time in my life. My trust in God has guided me when I allow Him to be a part of my decisions. If you are struggling today to make a decision put your trust in God. Do not try to make it on your own. God loves you more than you can imagine, and He wants you to walk in perfect peace no matter what is going on around you.
