I was walking and praying one night, and I saw cracks in concrete. Some places were small, some were larger, and some had developed into holes. As I walked and prayed, I was reminded of the Armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18. I thought of times that I have had cracks in my armor.

The small crack will start with being too busy to read the Bible daily. Then, something is added to our plate, and we are too busy to read the Bible and pray. We get up on Sunday morning, get ready for church, and remember we have not spent any time with God all week. At church, we say we are going to do better, but the next Sunday, it has only gotten worse because not only did we not pray or read the Bible, but we didn’t go to the midweek service.

Do you get the picture? The crack in our armor is getting bigger. Before we realize what is happening to our armor, we start missing church because we have been so busy during the week we are just too tired. The crack in our armor continues to get bigger. Due to the crack getting larger, we become frustrated with our spouse, family, co-workers, and strangers. We are not happy with ourselves, and there is no joy in our life. Before we know it, we begin to argue with someone, and words are spoken that cannot be taken back. The results are devastating, and our life is out of control because the crack in our armor has turned into a sinkhole.

  • Has the battle been intense?
  • Has your mind been everywhere except with Jesus?
  • Have you been praying, reading your word or have you been consumed with activities that don’t feed your spirit?
  • Have you been missing church?

Stop, look at your armor. Do you have cracks in it?

The dictionary says that a crack in someone’s or something’s armor is a weakness that might cause someone or something to fail or to be defeated.

Ephesians 6:11-13: “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.   Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (NKJV)

What is the spiritual armor of God? It stands for the defense we must take in our spiritual lives so we can fight a war against Satan, who looks to destroy us.

Pray and ask God to help. Make a new commitment to read your Bible, pray, stay focused on God, and allow him to speak into your life daily. Keep your armor free of cracks. Place boundaries in your life that will help you stay on track daily. When you do this, the battles will not destroy you. Victory will be yours, and your armor will be strong!
