“For Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!'”
Romans 10:13-15

I think probably all of us have that one body part that we wish looked a little differently. For me, it has always been my feet. God saw reason to bless me with extra-long toes and it has provided a source of comedy for my family and friends over the years. Even though I know their joking is all in fun, I’ve always wished I had daintier feet. I’ve always wanted to be one of those girls with the perfectly stair-stepped toes! LOL

One morning as I was reading through Romans I came across a passage of scripture I know I’ve heard before, but it was as if I was seeing it for the very first time. “How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who bring good news!” Romans 10:15. Whoa! God thinks my feet are beautiful? Even though I wish I had model feet, when I use them for the Lord, He says they are beautiful!

As I started to study this passage of scripture I began to think about how many opportunities I have during the day to use my feet for Jesus. Paul teaches in this passage of scripture that if we want people to be saved, then we must first go out and tell them about Jesus. How can they believe if they have never heard? And how can they hear if we don’t tell them? Ouch!

Sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ has not just been commissioned to overseas missionaries. You and I both have opportunities every day to tell others about Jesus. What if someone you work with or go to school with has been waiting on you to tell them that God loves them or that there is hope in the midst of their pain? How can someone experience freedom in Christ if we don’t open up our mouths and tell them that it’s possible?

“ He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.  So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:37-38

Jesus told the disciples that there were souls ready to be saved, but there weren’t enough workers to bring in the harvest. How exciting to think that even now there is a great harvest. I believe there are people we pass by every single day that could come to know Christ if we would only use our feet to go meet them and bring them the good news of Jesus Christ.

I love knowing that my feet can be beautiful to the Lord. Let yours be too. Remember what the Lord said in Isaiah 55:11

“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”

Don’t be afraid that your words won’t be enough. Speak God’s word to the lost, carry the good news with your beautiful feet and He promises that it will accomplish His purposes!
