Are You Excited?
At the first of each year, I reflect on my relationship with God. Recently I felt impressed with these words “Are you excited about Jesus? Of course, I said yes, and then I heard this question “Do others know you are excited?” Wow! What a loaded question.
Excitement means a feeling of great enthusiasm and eagerness. There is also a word, which means a sense of excitement: anticipation. Anticipation is excitement about something enjoyable that is going to happen soon. We should have great anticipation about what God has in store for His people. What does “excited” mean? Excited is defined as “having, showing, or characterized by a heightened state of energy, enthusiasm, and eagerness.”
As I began to think about this, I considered if I were excited about Jesus, I would have a burning desire to spend time with Him. I would want to read his word and pray about everything. I would like to show others love and help them. I would give my time to serve at church. I would be excited to be a volunteer in any area needed. If I were excited, I would not complain when using the gifts and talents that God gave me to serve the world.
Romans 12:11 (TPT): “Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward Him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let Him fill you with excitement.”
Romans 12:9-11 (LB): ” Don’t just pretend that you love others: really love them. Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of the good. Love each other with brotherly affection and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy in your work but serve the Lord enthusiastically.”
Think about the scripture out of the Passion Bible. Keep your passion boiling hot!!! How do you do that?
- Evaluate your relationship with God. Are you following His will for your life?
- Evaluate your thoughts and motives. Are you living a holy life? Are you pure before God?
- Get rid of little sins in your life. We all have them: complaining, judging, gossiping, etc.
- Pray. Not a “lay me down to sleep” prayer but open your heart to God and share your innermost thoughts with Him. Be honest with God. Do not try to hide things from Him. He already knows.
- Read the Word of God. You may say I do not understand what I read. Find a version of the bible that you can understand. Ask God to help you to understand. Ask God to put a hunger in your heart for his word.
- Go to Church. Church attendance is not a weekly obligation, but it is a place to gather to serve the Lord and make it all the way to heaven together. We grow stronger together.
- Serve. Give yourself to others. Serve your neighbors. Serve your family. Serve your church. Serve God. Do it with a passionate heart.
- Give. Generously, joyfully, and regularly.
- Worship. Spend time in God’s presence. Linger in his presence; don’t be so quick to walk away. Praise Him. Sing to Him. Meditate on Him. Listen to Him.
My prayer is that your passion will be boiling hot for God. I pray that all will see your enthusiasm, and you will have a beautiful encounter with God Almighty that will change your life forever. I hope you radiate Jesus everywhere you go and that God will fill you with the excitement of serving Him every day. May the love of Jesus fill you and overflow in your heart and life. I pray 2022 will be a turning point in your life where the passion for Jesus will never waiver.
