Peace is something we all long for, yet it can feel like the hardest thing to hold onto. Days are filled with to-do lists, expectations, and unexpected challenges. Between caring for loved ones, balancing responsibilities, and carrying the weight of our own quiet struggles, our hearts can feel restless even while putting on a smile on the outside.

God never asked us to create peace on our own. He asks us to receive it.

The Gift of Peace

In John 14:27, Jesus said,

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”

The peace Jesus offers isn’t dependent on circumstances. It’s not the kind of fragile calm that shatters the moment something goes wrong. His peace is deeper; it flows from His very presence. It reminds us that no matter what is swirling around us, God is still in control.

The world tells us peace comes when everything is in order, when all the boxes are checked off, or when life finally slows down. But God’s peace meets us right in the middle of the messy, unfinished, overwhelming moments. It is steady and unshaken, because it comes from Him.

Choosing Stillness

One of the most beautiful pictures of peace in Scripture is found in the story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38–42). While Martha busied herself with serving, Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen. Both women loved Him deeply, but Mary discovered something Martha hadn’t yet realized: peace is found in presence, not performance.

Sisters, as women, we seem to fall into the “Martha mindset.” Measuring our worth by how much we accomplish. How jealous I would have been of Mary, as I know I would have been Martha. I want to be Mary and sit at the feet of Jesus. Sometimes, all I can see is what needs to be done.

However, HE gently calls us to come closer and simply be still with Him. What a beautiful reward that is.

Stillness doesn’t always mean stopping everything. Sometimes it looks like praying over folded laundry or cooking dinner. Could be pausing to breathe deeply when anxiety rises. Or choosing to spend time with HIM by opening our Bible for five quiet minutes before bed. Peace grows when we choose His presence over our performance.

Practical Ways to Nurture Peace

I have to remind myself to find peace in HIM. Simple things I try to do when I am in need of peace include:

  • Begin your morning with God. Even a short prayer or a verse before you look at your phone can anchor your heart for the day ahead.
  • Release control in prayer. Instead of holding tightly to your worries, practice handing them to God one by one.
  • Fill your environment with reminders of His promises. Place Scripture cards around your home, play worship music, or keep a gratitude journal.
  • Find moments of holy stillness. Breathe deeply, and whisper His name. His peace often comes in the quiet spaces.
  • Surround yourself with sisters in Christ. Peace multiplies when we share burdens and pray for one another.

Sisters, peace isn’t about life being perfect. It’s about knowing you are deeply loved, fully held, and never alone. Even when the storm rages, you can rest in the arms of the One who speaks, “Peace, be still.”

GOOD NEWS!!!   HIS peace is not something we have to chase. It’s already ours in Him.

Prayer for Peace

Father, thank You for the gift of peace. Teach me to rest in You when life feels heavy. Quiet my anxious thoughts and remind me that You hold every detail of my life. Help me to choose stillness in Your presence and trust that Your peace will guard my heart and mind. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
