Where is your mission field?
I once had a dream in my heart to go to Africa; I was set on it. I believed it was where God was sending me. Just when the plan started coming together, life happened, and things changed.
Now, I say life happened, but what really happened was God shifted my focus on where HE wanted me to be and not where I wanted to be. Even when life was happening, I still thought I could make it (mission work in Africa) happen. However, we know HE is very persistent. Life kept happening.
Life shifted and several issues were laid in my realm that needed someone to help. I jump in head first and do what needs to be done as that’s the only way I know how: fix the problem. We, as women, seem to do that. Do it and then ask questions later.
Before I knew it, I had learned that my mission field was all around me.
We live in a privileged country, and yet there is so much need right here in our backyard. We have been given so much, and so much more should be expected of us.
There is no need to go across the world. Our eyes and hearts only have to be open to see and feel the needs of our communities around us. One day, I would still love to go to Africa and serve, but until God is ready to send me, I will serve where I am planted.
Love your neighbor, whether this neighbor looks, lives, or believes like me. I am not called to judge but to love. My judgment is not needed; however, LOVE is.
I may be the only representative of Jesus they see and let that be a positive light in their life.
Mark 12 30-31
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” The second is: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.”
