The daffodils and Bradford pear trees are blooming. Warm, beautiful sunshine dominates our weather. Spring is in the air. Along with these beautiful signs of Spring, we will have a time change in March, bringing longer daylight every day. Don’t you love this time of the year?

Reminder

People will use the time change as a reminder to check their smoke alarms and other things in their houses that must be checked yearly. I was thinking about what I needed to do in my house, and I thought, check up on my walk with my Lord. So many times, we get bombarded with life, and we begin to drop things in our lives that keep us strong and healthy in our relationship with Jesus.

Guardrails

A young man in my church recently walked away from years of addiction. He has not had any drugs in his body for over 175 days. I asked him if it had been easy, and he told me some interesting things about his journey. He said it is especially important to set guardrails to help him on this journey.

Commitment to these guardrails is so essential. Guardrails are things like:

  • reading his bible every day,
  • going to church even when he does not feel like it,
  • serving in his church and serving others,
  • allowing people to speak into his life and being accountable to them,
  • praying with his wife and
  • praying and listening to God for direction in everything he does.

As we talked, I thought about my life and how I, too, need those same guardrails to walk the path the Lord has laid before me. I must pray and talk to the Father daily, read my bible, and let it be the word of God to direct me every day. I must attend church and let others encourage and help me, and I must obey God in serving Him by helping others. As we all walk on our journey with the Lord, we must have those guardrails in place.

Application

What season are you in with your relationship with our Lord? Are you in the winter season? Struggling to make it through every day. Are you struggling to read your bible, pray, or go to church? Are you struggling with unforgiveness, anger, and frustration? So many times, we need to take some things off our plates, and the first thing we do is stop doing what God has told us to do.

It is time for a new season. Evaluate your walk with our Lord. Ask God to show you the things you need to change. Become diligent in His word and follow His directions. Ask Him to give you some scriptures you can memorize and apply every morning to your day. He loves you more than you can imagine.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.”  Psalms 51:10 (AMP)

“Commit your works to the Lord (submit and trust them to Him), and your plans will succeed (if you respond to His will and guidance).”  Proverbs 16:3 (AMP)

“And do not be conformed to this world (any longer with its superficial values and customs), but be transformed and progressively changed (as you mature spiritually) by the renewing of your mind (focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes), so that you may prove (for yourselves) what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (in His plan and purpose for you).” Romans 12:2 (AMP)
