I struggled this month with writing this blog. I felt like I had nothing coy or interesting to write. So much is going on in my physical life and my spiritual life that I have been feeling overwhelmed and also not worthy.
Currently, we are remodeling our home. If any of you out there are considering doing this, my recommendation is to simply move to another house. Haha.
This remodel has affected our family privacy, our normal everyday routines, and my spiritual study life with God. I walk into my kitchen, and there are strangers. I walk out on the back deck, and there are strangers. I start my bible study and hear someone say, “Mrs. Daniel, I have a question.” There is no hiding from these people we hired to make our home more livable in the mature years of our lives. They are such good people, but I am the one struggling.
But sometimes God needs to disrupt your life…and disrupt it a lot.
In Luke 9:28 (KJV), Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up on the mountain to pray with Him. As Jesus prayed, his appearance changed. His face turned white, and his cloak was glistening. The bright splendor was so overwhelming! Then appeared Moses and Elias, and they all 3 spoke of Jesus’ eminent death on the cross and His resurrection. And the disciples slept!!! They were missing the disruption of their lives. They were missing being one with Jesus!
My first thought was, “how could those three disciples sleep? They were in the presence of our Lord, Moses and Elias?” Would I have not fallen at their feet, listened to their every word, touched their glorious cloaks? Or would I have slept? Do I sleep now when Jesus is calling on me? Do I simply ignore all the good that could come out of a disruption in my life?
Yes, Jesus can turn your world upside down, just like remodeling your home. But isn’t being in the presence of our Holy Savior worth the disruption, worth the change, and worth eternal life? I cannot express to you the tears that flowed when I imagined seeing our Savior in his Holy Splendor on this side of heaven. I would certainly welcome that disruption. Please find Jesus in all the disruptions in your life, and welcome them!
