I could write one-hundred pages on the man I called my earthly father, Dale Rowe. He was never a great civic leader, he was not in clubs, and he did not run for public office or promote himself in any way. He was a humble and God-serving servant that helped people everywhere and never wanted to be recognized. He was a great man!

Our family moved from Des Moines, IA, to Guntersville in 1959. My father had accepted a job with Consolidated Blenders alfalfa mill in Guntersville as the plant manager. He loved the job but dreaded every Christmas because he was required to throw a party with alcohol being served. My father did not believe celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior was a fitting place to serve alcohol. Plus, my father was a new Christian and did not believe alcohol was a good witness to unbelievers.

One year it was brought to his attention that one of the plant workers was struggling with alcohol addiction, so my father asked the main office if he could remove alcohol from his location’s Christmas party. He was turned down and required to serve the intoxicating beverage.

As expected, that employee got drunk and (I will not go into details) nearly died. My father saved his life in a dramatic way that was also life-threatening to my father. After the new year, Dad quit his job with no other job waiting. God spoke to him and told him to leave, and my father did.

My mother was devastated and scared (she had four young children), but my father was trusting. It was a rough time in our family. My father sold my mother’s car, sold her jewelry (except her wedding ring), and sold his guns and rifles and anything else of value so he could make our house payments and feed our family. He had complete faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

My father was extremely smart and came up with a business idea. That small idea and humble beginnings turned into a multimillion-dollar business he named Faithway Feed Company. He followed the “way of faith” his entire business life, and God blessed him beyond measure.

In my next blog, I will share the rough path my father encountered trying to keep our family fed and starting a business with absolutely no money. His currency was FAITH! Always follow God in your business, business dealings, and relationships with your co-workers. It always pays off!

But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to product wealth, and so confess his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors as it is today. All your special talents and skills that you possess are all given by God.”
